All, I am working to get the emergency brake to work on my 1947 super deluxe. When I pull the lever it feels like the cable needs to be lubricated somehow? If so how and what with? Any other tips on setting up the E-brake will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for any input!!! John

Thanks for all the replies! I currently seem to have it starting much better. I did install the diode as suggested by petehoovie. I also added a missing engine ground strap. Pops right off now!

There is no ballast bypass like used on newer cars (at least on a '47) this may not indicate a ballast problem. I was quite surprised to see that the ballast resistor on my '47 was not bypassed when starting!
