    Seat cutting

I’ve wondered how critical is the valve guide interference. Several guides were tight and several were loose when I replaced them. I wasn’t sure if this was too important.

    Seat cutting

I must have cleaned the soot before the photos but yeah everything was sure covered in the black dust. Nothing dusty around here no. I’ve never checked the mileage, but I will now. Using the leak tester I was able to ensure the leak was the intake and not the exhaust. The engine has one of...

    Seat cutting

Yeah it started running rough and the intake was back firing real bad. So I did a cylinder leak test and could not manage to get number one intake to seal. (I never did that previously). So I pulled the head and investigated the valve. Did another lap on it thinking I must’ve not lapped it...

    Seat cutting

Hello, I decked a block and cut seats at 45 deg. See attached images. Been wondering if I did this correctly or incorrectly according to the general opinions here. I was unable to locate any detailed ford documentation on this at the time I cut the seats. So far I’ve put about 500 miles on...

    Mitchell/speedo not working-need ideas

Artdeco - speedometer problems are common. The unit should work with your drill in reverse. That is the correct direction. I’m not sure if you’re connecting the drill onto the cable end at the transmission or if you’re driving the speedometer directly with a square bit driver. Assuming your...

What am I in for? (Muti disc Clutch Woes)

Psimet - please don’t get discouraged by these folks. You’ll locate plenty of parts out there for the multidisc transmission. I was in your shoes when I started here and I got the same advice. I started trying to source a newer style unit. I learned that the entire transmission is different...

How to install grommet on speedo cable?

Thank you guys for explaining this to the weaker generation of model A owners. Going to post an image here. Grommet set from Snyder’s was pretty impossible to install without your help.

Generator mounting bracket and bolt for Power House

I’m taking a few images to both help and get help from those who know best. This is clearly an early Powerhouse unit on an ~October ‘28 Coup. Good images of this area are not widely published in my observation. Thanks, Steve

    ?When to Pull the Tank?

Gents, For some of you it might help to give the closure showing what i did and the reults. I ended up seeing the tina shin video on youtube, i heard she's the new Tech Director for MAFCA. Seems to know a lot about model A's too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXkVE66teHg&t=4s i followed...

    Battery Box ‘28

Battery Box ‘28 The battery box or hanger on my ‘28 has been a disaster to the eyes, but saving up to replace it has ended in some disappointment. The new Snyder’s unit does not seem to match whatsoever. Can someone educate me on if my box mounts are original? Should I attempt to use them...

Transmission bearings .. sealed or unsealed?

I’ve not heard “long term results” but I’d suggest following the article below if you have questions during your rebuild. Tom’s work truly enables this work for many. https://www.santaanitaas.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Transmission-Overhaul-Pictorial-August-2018.pdf

    Clutch Adjusting Yoke

has anyone ever used one of these fully threaded units on the multi-disc clutch? I was recently disappointed when i noticed nobody sells a pre-Nov '28 version of this part - nor do they tell you in their catalog that what you're buying won't work on those cars.

    ?When to Pull the Tank?

Can i get any guidance on when to pull and clean the gas tank? Seems like a lot of work without too much to gain. But, the engine and transmission are already out and i'm trying to get everything done while there's extra room. What are the benefits of cleaning the tank? Doesn't the filter...

    28 oil pan question?

The pump has a screen around it and the best thing about the clean out feature on the ‘28 is you can pull the pump and screen without dropping the entire pan. No it’s not hard at all to put the pump back, but like the others suggested, if it’s gummy then pulling the pan is a good general idea...
