Completely restored 1930 Model A Coupe. This car was my late Father, Richard "Dick" Lee's pride and joy which he fully restored himself. You may also remember my Dad as "columbiA" from this forum up until his passing. Richard was one of the founding members of the Vintage Car Club of Canada and...

In memory of 'ColumbiA', my Father, Richard Lee

I'm writing on behalf of my Dad, Richard Lee. Everyone on this forum knows him as 'ColumbiA'. I'm sad to have to pass along the news that Dad passed away on Sunday, Oct 13/13 after a brave battle with cancer. I want everyone to know just how much pleasure this forum gave him. Dad's passion...

    Restoration Qs...early 28 transmission case

Center the cluster gear with the main drive gear, then measure with a feeler gauge the clearance on ends of cluster. After cleaning up any roughness on case, install steel shim washers until you have around .006" clearance.

    Rear Shackle...

If the new shackle fits without a lot of looseness in old bushing,I would'nt bother to remove old bushing. As for the rear spring,he could have been badly injured-or worse.Re & re-ing the rear spring & the gear shift lever spring are the 2 jobs that should be done with the proper tools.I think...

    Inquiring about transporting Model A

As I mentioned in my previous post, I have gifted my Daughter my '30 Model A. I want to have it transported in an enclosed trailer. Can anyone recommend a reputable, bonded company that can transport from Keremeos, BC to St. Albert, AB (near Edmonton). Appreciate sending name and contact...

    35-36 Axle hsgs.

The tapered axle tube is the same diameter from28-36.On 37-48,the axle tube is 5/8" larger on both ends. That is why when I modified a 46 Columbia OD to fit my A,I used a '36 LH axle axle hsg which made it look more like an A rear end.

    Vintique Fuse Block

I use a 30-amp breaker mounted on engine side of starter switch. It is a tin box with 2 threaded studs for wires & a flat 2- hole mount for the starter switch mounting screws. The mounting hole on one end had to be notched for the slightly wider spacing of the switch mount screws. Most people try...

    Resistance Ignition Wire

the round style dist cap with std plug wires is strictly after market.I would never use a modern style cap as the original type is one of the things that makes the A & B engines unique.

My daughter has my late '30 coupe & it has the 1-piece splash aprons which are correct for the car.

    TWIN-X 2-Speed rear end

THE Twin-X Overdrive is a very rare unit.I looked & looked, but couldn't find one.I modified a 40 Ford Columbia OD to fit.It has given no problems in over 100,000 miles. The Columbia has a planetary OD.

    The F3 Head

The 32 WP,s are available new.If you need a new impeller, don't buy a repro as they are not machined properly & will not allow the pump to go far enough into the head.I ended up using the impeller from a spare pump & Installing a 1/8" roll pin, which is a good idea with a new impeller as well.
