    '54 Merc Horn questions

from the shift indicator, it would appear you have a much later steering column than the one for the 1954 car. You will need to identify the column year, make and model and modify the horn circuit to meld the new and old parts. Another reason for LITFA!

    1956 Ford windshield wipers

I have done the brake fluid method with moderate success. I spoke with Friken Wiper Service, the only place I know of that has the NOS parts to repair these old Trico motors. He told me to use carefully disassemble the unit, being especially careful not to damage the top gasket. Use the axle...

    2 speed fordomatic

I spoke to an oil engineer several years ago about this subject. He gave me a bunch of engineer speak data that just confused me. Bottom line, Dexron is the closest fluid to Type A, Suffix A. There is a TON of information from those that believe that the Type F is the recommended fluid and it...

Wanted, 1959 Galaxie power window harness shield

Trying to help someone in Australia. He is looking for the power window wire shield that attaches to the doors on cars equipped with power windows. this part is supposed to be the same left and right, front and rear from at least 1957-1959 Ford vehicles and I believe that it also fits later...

    1954-1956 Wheel Question

The information from Kultulz is from the 1949-1959 parts manual that was printed in 1964. It does not have information on some parts that Ford removed as obsolete when that edition was printed. To get the correct information on those parts, you need to have the books that date back to...

The Case of the Wretched Roadster

unless you have a balanced carburetor, ditch the air filter. These cars never had one. Carburetors for cars that have air filters are engineered different. If you want an air cleaner, buy that balanced carburetor and you be all set.

    6v to 12 volt question

Back when CB radios were the rage, I put one in my 1955 Thunderbird. I used an inverter and insulated the radio installation from the auto chassis by using a piece of wood, That way the CB (negative ground) and the car (positive ground) would not be in conflict. It worked great for years.

    canadian 54 ford

This is very interesting. I know that Ford offered Power steering in 1953 here in the US, and for us, that was the last year of the flat head. I would think that that accessory would be super rare. I have been to a lot of car shows and have been a Ford guy since I graduated high school, but I...

    1957 Ford Fairlane 500 battery

I am not sure what you mean by your car taking a regular battery. The 29NF was used in most Fords from 1956-64. It would have been the regular battery in your car. Someone has changed it to a different size since it rolled off the assembly line.

1929 Sport Coupe Rear Window Trim Screws

For those of you that think that metric is standardized, think again. There is a European standard and an Asian standard. The head size of the cap screws are different between the European and Asian bolts of the same size and thread.

    Restamping a restamped block

Having been a law enforcement officer in California (retired) I can tell you that the frame stamp is considered the VIN number for the vehicle and the engine number is nice but not not the final determinator of the actual VIN. My AA that I have owned for over 40 years was titled with the...
