    I'm a bonehead - 39 rear end questions

Since we're doing Banjo questions,,, Is there supposed to be a seal inside the axle tube near the narrow end? If so , I presume the tube must be removed to install it. Does it just hammer in? How does the old one come out if there's one in there?

    Small Ford Sixes 144, 170

I am looking for info on these tiny engines from early falcons and such. Are the 144 and 170 basically the same engines with slightly different bore and stroke, or are there any other differences?

Are short water pumps available for the 289?

I poked around on the Summit site and found a water pump pulley that looked deeper. I went ahead and ordered it . We'll see if it works when it gets here.

Are short water pumps available for the 289?

3 bolts hold on the lower pulley. There are 2 v belt grooves in it. The upper pulley also has 2 grooves and is held on to the water pump with 4 bolts. The alternator and lower pulley align. the water pump pulley ends up about 5/8 to 3/4 too far forward.

Are short water pumps available for the 289?

In order for my pulleys to line up, the water pump needs to be about 5 inches deep from the back to the pulley mount. The auto parts stores here only stock one that is 5 5/8 deep. Any suppliers?

    53 Ford Emergency Brake Question

I'm pretty sure you nailed it 51 merc-ct ! Mine is missing that spring on the drawing you show so this must be it. There's nothing but air to attach the other end to, but I'm assuming once I get the transmission in I'll find the spot.
