I pulled the carb, so I got a pic of the spacer.

I would suppose if so there would be a cut out in the firewall?

Was there originally any spacer between the carb and the intake or just the gasket?

Yes, someone replaced it with a 48 and along with adding the spacer I am assuming.

No two speed rear end. I have also noticed that some people place an extra tall spacer under the carb, is that for keeping the carb cool?

I have a 1937 Ford 85 hp with a Stromberg 48 carburetor which someone added along with what I am assuming is not original, a 1/2" carb to intake spacer with vacuum port. Since I do not need the vacuum port does anyone know if I can just remove the spacer or is it needed?
