Changing the thermostats in my 39 Coupe and found them jammed in the radiator hose. What keeps the thermostats in place? Thanks

After careful examination, gas is coming out of this little hole in the fuel pump. In the 2nd picture, one of the screws appears to be stripped. Can’t find the part anywhere. The oil cap screws into the top and fuel pump is mounted on the side.

What grease is everyone using to grease the zerk fittings on your ride?
