    Vaporlock and the ensuing conversations

They are adding BUTANE to our gas now to get rid of it. Before the EPA the refineries just burned it off It only causes problems in an open fuel system as in carburetors. The zenith carb is cast iron and obsorbs a lot of heat. The after market carbs like the tilli not so much. The 1/4 inch...

    Rod nuts

In his book 4-bangers & me Jim Brierley recommends using ARP 12 point rod nuts. Are these to be used without lock washers and can they be re-used to adjust shims? When I dropped my pan the other day I found the carter pins so far down and loose they served no practical purpose. thanks Bob

    Rims

Thanks for the input guys, If I were a vender at Hershey or anywhere trying to sell rims I would have the spindle set up at my display table, but that is just me. The dime idea was one I did not think about. I am running on rims that I have to grind down the washers to keep them from hitting...

    Wheels

Wow AL, I did not know that. I guess it should have been obvious. That enplanes why the lug nut holes ware on a model A and not on modern cars.

    Wheels

I have a problem with my wheels that I have not seen on the Barn. My lug nut holes are to big from years of use. I have the thicker SS washers but still need to grind them down so they do not protrude beyond the rim. I have also bought SS lug nuts that are used on boat trailers. They have a...

Throwing Out Good Model A Parts

Tom, It is a mind set. After 30 years in the military and frequent moves with limited shipping weight, " IF YOU HAVE NOT USED IT IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS YOU DONT NEED IT." Having said that, with my 30 sport coup every modification I make I am keeping the original parts but I still have to...
