    Ammeter reading backwards

Where do you have the other end of the wires connected to the system?

    Installation cost

Gosh, I thought that would be the easiest question I've asked the barn. I'll restate the question as advised. How many hours does it take to do these tasks? All the old upholstery was removed nearly 40 years ago and I've recently replaced nearly all the wood. I figured I'd install the roof...

    Installation cost

If I supply the materials, what would you guys say is a reasonable installation cost for having someone install the vinyl top and upholstery on a 30 Tudor? I plan to use an LB interior kit.

    Fuel Flow Rate

I disconnected the fuel line going into the carburetor yesterday and found the compression fitting there was slightly twisted. It wasn't distorted enough to leak fuel, but I replaced it anyway. After that change, the car ran as well as I've ever seen it. Mitch mentioned the fuel line being...

    Fuel Flow Rate

Another frustrating Saturday trying to get my A to run... Bought a new carburetor and put it on... Same behavior. Went back through the fuel lines with a small gun barrel brush...No change. Checked the timing... dead on. Checked for leaks at the manifold. No rpm change. Plugged the vacuum hole...

    Carburetor choices

Tried to get the Tillotson to work that has been hanging there for a number of years. Unfortunately, the interface between top and bottom housings is warped enough that I can see daylight through it even though I sanded the bottom surface flat and the hole that should hold the bottom drain plug...

    Carburetor choices

I'm looking to bite the bullet and get another carburetor. Is there any difference between the new units that the big vendors offer or are they all from the same supplier? It is (hopefully) for a driver.

    Fuel Flow Rate

I snuck the rpm up slowly on the column and pulled the choke out about half way... RPMs increased, so I went back into the carb. I poked a twist tie into the channels to make sure they were all clear. I found some blockage in the channel between the bottom of the choke adjustment and the...

    Fuel Flow Rate

Tried with the gas cap off - no de france. This is a freshly rebuilt engine with new manifold and gasket. I put about 20 miles on it without much complaint before the body went into the shop. And yes, I was thorough in creating good grounds when putting it all back together.

    Fuel Flow Rate

Mitch, Spraying carb cleaner into the air intake does keep the car from shutting off. I bought a spark tester, but haven't had success with it yet as I can't keep the car running long enough to perform a good test. What should we look at next?

Willing to try it. What is 2+2?

    Fuel Flow Rate

Update... I eyeballed the fuel flow. With about 3 gallons of gas in the tank, there is about a one inch stream of gas going to the carburetor, which is basically the same as what I see when I check it at the shutoff valve. Tank was cleaned and coated before reassembly and the pencil filter is...

    Tillotson Gaskets

What is the correct thread size for the bore for the jet and drain plug? Looks like 3/8" -24 tpi but I'm not positive.

    Tillotson Gaskets

This helps, but I'm not sure which gasket goes in the places shown. I'll go back to my teardown and see if one seems to fit better in each location. Thanks.

    Tillotson Gaskets

Rebuilding a Tillotson carb but I don't know where each of the gaskets belong. Where do the three round gaskets go that are shown in the box in this picture? I suspect they go on the jet somehow, but my jet doesn't want to come out.
