Need to remove rear frame horn covers, 32

Yeah, those bumpers can rot. When mine went out in 1960 I had to scratch around to find replacements. Serendipitous trip to a dairy farm in South Dakota revealed that the Delaval milking machines had a rubber part that was a perfect replacement! Now, this is 65 years ago and are they still...

How many of you are working on a 1932 Ford ?

Great looker! Mine was Washington Blue (mostly) when I used it my last college year in Milwaukee (1964). Still have it, though not too many more miles.

    41 original spare tire

When my father purchased our 32 coupe in 1952 it had Allstate tires. I still have one as a spare and it has holded air for many years.

So much of 1932 is "one year only".

    Carburator fuel bowl leak

I'm near 45 and 132. Get my gas at Sam's for a bit less. Going to try the Hylomar this coming week and see what happens.

    1932 Ford Grille Shell

A wonderful conundrum! Punching out those holes caused wear and tear on the tooling. So why continue if there was no need? Except that it was a one-year problem. Euclid, I think, posited that "three points determine a plane". Maybe those, and something at the top of the shell (the hole that...

    Carburator fuel bowl leak

I have a Stromberg 48 carb and a Ford 59 carb. Both of them will leak out their fuel bowls overnight. The fuel includes ethanol, of course. Why?:(

    fuel pump push rod

To lengthen a push rod you could take an empty casing from a 38 caliber cartridge, grind the base where the primer is located to the amount of lift you want, and drop it on the rod. Oh, be sure to use a fired cartridge, not a new one!

    1932 Ford V8 Radiator

Many, many years ago (1963?) I had an outfit called Triangle Radiator, in Chicago, on Irving Park Road, put a new core into an original 32 radiator. They removed the upper and lower tanks and somehow soldered the new core to the old tanks. Got the height and width absolutely correct, but...

    new to the v-8s.......

IMHO, when set up well you can lock the brakes at near 60 mph. At least in my '32 45 I could. I think you youngsters have gotten used to ABS and other great improvements in braking capabilities. Never, ever, closer to the car in front than you can stop. My father's most wonderful cautions.

    Flathead upgrade

Have to admit that with the advent of electronic ignition and fuel injection I don't worry about my car starting under any meteorologic condition. They don't fail. I do think that I am reading about more engine fires than i used to. High pressure system failures? Is anyone building...

    1932 ford vin # question

David G, My daughters purchased your books for me several years ago. What a wonderful trove of information. Have a question for you on body build timing. It is a model 45. The visors are rectangular rod constructs with two separate holders attached to the header panel. Other than up and down...

    Selling parts on line

Haven't made a purchase or sale on-line for at least 10 years. Back then I never had a problem. Parts were as described and reasonably priced. I provided pictures for my stuff but also trusted the sellers descriptions. This thread makes me wonder how much has changed. One of my best...
