Put two on my rebuilt 39 four years ago. I had to change to leaner jets and the shoulder screw that secures the accelerator pump lever was machined incorrectly (too shallow so it backed out several times--I called to ask for another one-they sent the incorrect one again:)). But they have...
I did my 39 tudor by myself. I can't give any superior advice other than patience. I heard a rumor that the factory workers assigned this duty only lived to their mid 30s.
I used a version of this setup on my 39 rebuild (from fordbarn and HAMB, many ideas can be found). I now have several thousand miles on it with no problems and no blow-by.
Outlaw. Unfortunately the pics of the details of my setup were lost in a cell phone problem. I used many ideas from the fordbarn and the jalopy journal. Mine is 39 bored out 221ci with an L 100 cam and the induction shown. I blocked the draft inlet on the oil pan and adapted a setup much like...
Here is a fordbarn pic of a system similar to that I installed on my 59A. Everything is hidden. After about 3K miles it seems to be working fine. No blow back--no fumes. The pcv valve was for a small displacement chevy. don't have the part number.
I had the same experience with my rebuilt 69A. I panicked at first--then I read the relevant fordbarn articles finding that it is not unusual. I fabricated a stud extractor to take out each of the four studs that were leaking. I took them out individually and purchased a high quality thread...
Patience pays off. I once had a six cylinder Healey motor with all six bores seized. It took about six months of gently tapping each piston with a hammer and a wood block. It finally began to move--went on to rebuild it. That was over 25 years and thousands of miles ago. Good luck with your...
