I hope your engine rebuilder knows that you don't line up the crank mark with the cam mark? On a Y-block Ford motor these marks you have to count 12 chain links between these on timing chain. I had a 55 Ford 292 in a car I bought and the motor was rebuilt and it would not start. I checked the...

Jack up only one rear wheel and mark tire and mark drive shaft now turn the tire two full turns and count the turns of drive shaft and if it turns 3 & 1/5 turns it is a 3:50 gear if it turns 3 times it is a 3:00 gear etc.works every time. Make sure on one tire turns!
