On a 59AB block with an 8BA crank with insert rod bearings
Should I use torque specs for the 59AB mains 80 - 90 ft/lbs
& 8BA torque specs for the rods? 45-50 ft/lbs
Mains per Mac Van Pelts page
32-48 V8 - 80-90 ft/lbs
49-53 V8 - 95-105 ft/lbs
Rods per Mac
32-48 V8 - 40-45 ft/lbs (self locking)...
The oil pump in my engine has the pick up tube mounting bolts in line with the oil pump. The pumps I've seen for sale now have the pick up tube bolts mounting to the pump diagonally. Plus the pick up tube is bent in a way that isn't like any of the new pick up tubes I've seen.
Does anyone know...
I have no idea what the person was thinking when they did that, the pulley was like that when I received the engine.
I am in need of a correct pulley for a 59A engine if someone has one they would sell.
Thank you all for the replies.
What crankshaft pulley do I need for a 1947 59A block with a EAB crankshaft?
I recently bought an engine that came with a crank pulley that doesn't line up with the water pumps.
Update #2
I have installed a 50 lb. oil pressure sender from Kaiser Willys Auto Supply, part number 800807 using a 1/4" NPT to 1/8" NPT reducer bushing.
The gauge is working properly now.
Here is my update.
I bought a new sender from Dennis Carpenter. It reads 0 regardless of the RPM, without any teflon tape.
The previous unit from C&G went off the scale high.
I grounded the wire temporarily with the Carpenter unit & the gauge immediately reacted, but went back to zero when...
Re: 59AB in 35 ford maxing out oil pressure gauge
I have a mechanical gauge that I wanted to try but unfortunately I can't find it.
I've ordered another sending unit from Carpenter. I would guess the one I bought from C & G was probably made by Carpenter too.
It reads 0 with the key off
5 lbs with the key on not running
maxs out past 50 while running at an idle
I don't know if it has a pressure relief in the pump.
It's still 6V pos ground
I bought the truck last year. It didn't have an oil pressure gauge or sender.
I bought a dual gauge set up oil...
I have a 59AB in a 35 Ford truck with a oil pressure/fuel gauge in it.
It maxs out over 50 lbs at an idle.
I have a new 50 lb sender from C&G
What would cause this.
Possibly a defective sender???
