Original one just about crumbled . Ordered new one from Mac's and it is back ordered. Can I run with wires connected directly to post on generator as long as I disconnect when car is not running? Only doing this until I get the balance of the order.

I'll put an end to this thread. Car is running. Unfortunately never figured out what was wrong. Pulled distributor, made sure there were no shorts, retimed it, and it started. Thanks to all who tried to help. Wish I knew what Is was. I also filed the points a little. Maybe that was it...

I checked all the areas for 6 volts that is mentioned in Ford Model A handbook. Everything looks good so far. I will dive into the distributor tonight. Hopefully I will find a shorted wire in there. There is 6 volts on the arm of the points when open.

Check for spark-- held a spark plug lead close to block.

Distributor is turning. Checked that yesterday.

Been running good for about 1 year. Yesterday ran idle up in garage and I heard a pop and now no spark. Changed coil and condenser- still no spark. Could the generator gone bad? Battery is good. Jumped fuse on top of starter to eliminate that. If generator is bad , will they still run?

Only put 4 quarts in it. I can see it dripping down under. Just got to take the plung and get under it and follow the leak to the source. Can't be too many things down there that leak. It's not coming from the side of the motor. Oil pan, seal around crank shaft. Any thing else?

I took my car for a 50 mile ride this weekend. Great ride- no problems. Next day I notice a rather large oil spot on the floor- looks like at least a half of quart. Took a quick look underneath and it is not the oil drain plug leaking. It always leaked, ( or marked its territory), but...

Had the same issue- no spark at points. In my case I had the cable that screws into the distributor turned in to far and it was shorted out. Turned it out a few turns and fired right up. Sounds too easy here- took me forever to find that- that's to a lot of advise from the experts on Fordbarn.
