Main and rod bearing adjustment ?

Thank you all for the great advice. I will hold off on doing anything for now but will keep an eye (ear) on the engine. I am convinced that when I decide to go over the bearings that I will pull the engine to do the job. Hanks for the input Bill

Main and rod bearing adjustment ?

I did set my valve clearance a little wide, so they are a bit noisy. I will get a stethoscope and probe around. Noise isn’t all that bad, not like before I had the engine rebuilt, there was a definite clunk from the center main then. I guess thinking more along the lines of preventative...

Main and rod bearing adjustment ?

I’ve read all of the posts that I can find on the topic. I’m wondering when it’s time to drop the pan and do it. I had my engine rebuilt using Babbitt in 2014 since then I’ve put about 13000 miles on the engine. I feel as though the engine is making more noise, especially when it’s cold. I don’t...

    Overheating Problems

You might check that there are no bubbles in the radiator, a blown head gasket can eject water from the radiator and cause overheating. NAPA sells a combustion gas test kit that you can use to test for a head gasket leak Good luck

    Mitchell transmission or overdrive

Thank you all for your thoughtful responses they have given me a lot to think about. To the mix there is also the f150 4 speed conversion, it would be easy if there was only one choice. If I can ever come to a decision I’ll post the result. Bill

    Mitchell transmission or overdrive

I would like to improve the drivability of my 31 closed cab pickup. Originally I was thinking about a Mitchell overdrive but now I’m wondering if I would be better off with the Mitchell synchromesh transmission. The truck has a strong engine and 3.56 rear end and 19 inch wheels. Most of our...

Hard to turn engine over A ford 1929

The electronic ignition module is very sensitive to low voltage. If the starter is drawing to much current, or if there is a resistance in the starter circuit, the voltage will drop below the threshold and you will not be getting any spark during starting. The car will start fine with a push...

    Tachometer?

I have a "tiny tach" on mine, google tiny tach. When I ordered it I told them that it was for a model A. Cost was $47.00. Digital, self contained, no connections just wire warped around coil wire. Shows hours when engine is off. Bill

    a few painting suggestions please

Thanks It is the belt line that I plan to paint over the red base, about 1/2 or 3/4 in wide. I'm going out shortly to pick up the paint, it'll be Nason base coat clear coat system. I'm pretty sure I used a base coat activator on my last project. I bookmarked the pin striping tape, looks like a...

    a few painting suggestions please

I am in the process of repainting my 31 closed cab pickup. I have it primed and ready. I plan to paint it rubalite red with the narrow bead/stripe running around the hood and cabin tacoma cream. My question, is it best to paint the stripe first, mask it and paint over everything with the...
