    Why is my engine backfiring?

Can you determine if you are getting an afterfire or backfire? A backfire is when the air/fuel mixture ignites in the intake tract before entering the cylinder. It is an explosion that travels out through the intake manifold. Now, if you end up with unburnt fuel in the exhaust gasses...

    Manifold heater bracket

Gar, Gar, Thanks for the input. My heater is not for a waffle style manifold and the bracket does not attach using a head stud nut but rather the manifold stud nut. It is the one shown in Bratton's, Part #13660. So if anyone is familiar with that heater and can provide the bracket...

    Manifold heater bracket

Thanks for the pic. One of our club members used a similar setup but put the clamp on the manifold then the heater on top with a bolt from the clamp through the hole in the top of the heater. The bracket I want to use goes on the mainifold stud, not the head. The top bracket just rests on...

    Manifold heater bracket

Pat, If there is a bolt hole in the top, it probably attaches with two brackets and a long "L" shape shaft. I can send you instructions if you want but you may need to make the brackets and shaft if you do not have them. I can't send until the weekend since they are with my car at my weekend...

    Manifold heater bracket

Gar, I do not have it here at home so I am not sure of the brand name. It is the style as shown in Bratton's (Part #13660) for the standard, not the Auto-Lite waffle style manifold. The bracket is the bottom bracket that attaches to the #2 manifold stud. A long "L" shaped shaft fits on it...

    Manifold heater bracket

I have just been given a manifold heater for the standard manifold and it is missing the bottom bracket. Can anyone provide a picture and/or the dimensions so that I can make one? Thanks in advance. Bill

    Optima hold down frame

I bought one from Brattons recently and found that I had to bend the ears slightly in a clockwise direction. It now fits great. I think adding two tubes between the top and bottom holes to stiffen when tightening may be a good idea. I will try that, but it may not be necessary.

Checklist for removing the rear hubs/brakes.

Are you removing the hubs just for practice or will you just be repacking the bearings? If so a morning may be fine. If you are doing something with the brakes, a few weeks might be a better plan.

Electrolytic rust removal of door parts

I talked to Grainger this AM and they do not have the rods under that name or PN. Everything they had that looked close sold in 50+ quantitys. How long ago did you purchase the rods.
