    "Restored show car WOW"

I've often wondered the same. People highlight the post restoration low milage as an asset when I'd think anything under a thousand or so means I'going to be finding bugs you missed.

Can someone instruct me on starting Model A's and how to use the spark control,

I would make a distinction between shutting the fuel off, as a matter of safety and running the carb. dry to prevent it being full of stale fuel. Thus, to shut down, I turn off the gas, put the spark lever all the way up up, and turn the key off. If I'm not planning to drive in the next 2-3...

    Rumble Tree

I'm sending this link to my mother. She has a 40-A in identical color yet was cleaning pine needles out of the carpet of her Honda a couple of weeks ago.

    Rear main thrust

Hi Andy: I've used this too. I my case, I opened the engine because of excessive end play in the crank. I wasn't thrilled with the condition of the babbet, but was able to get all the clearances into adjustment except for the end play issue. I was hoping to get another few thousand miles out of...

Any recommendations for a basic test meter?

I tend to prefer digital, mostly because they will make measurements in both the positive and negative directions. In most cases, when you just need to know if there is electricity or how much, you can be lazy with a digital meter and not think about where the red and black wires are relative...

    Title troubles in Florida

5window: Thank you for explaining the difference between the salvage and rebuilt salvage title in PA. While the rebuilt salvage title sounds like an OK outcome, the process of getting there indeed sounds like recipe for great unpleasantness and uncertainty at the DMV. -- Brian d'Entremont

    Title troubles in Florida

Out of curiosity, what is the wrong with a salvage title on for an A? Does it cause future problems with insurance or sale? Since many A's were built from junk in fields or have decades of lost history, I can't imagine many future buyers would be turned off by a piece of paper saying that the...

Possible New Idea for Pressure to Model A Mains?

Yes, that's exactly the point. The math just verifies it. I'm glad this was of help.

Possible New Idea for Pressure to Model A Mains?

I've attached a PDF with the math. As I initially suspected upon reading your post, the theoretical maximum pressure you can generate with the dipper is exactly equal to the theoretical minimum pressure required to pump any oil against centrifugal force, regardless of RPM. This can't work.

    Need some insurance help

My mom also insures her A with AMICA and had exactly the same experience. They recommended classic insurance with another company. However, they were willing to insure it at "agreed value" when the terms of the classic insurance were unsuitable (i.e. no driving to work or the grocery).

Do You Know What Grinds My Gears?

The great majority of the time I agree. I've heard some wonderful stories and learned some great stuff both technical and historical from folks to stopped to talk about the car. It's just when the sound of the starter brings out the "you can't know what you're doing" sort of comments out right...
