The vin should be on the left hand side of the motor,then it was transferred to the frame I would use the number on the title or old registration.

yes, I think That's the problem, the forward nut must be turning but I cant get to it to hold it, seems loose in there and I don't dare to get the bolt out then the nut will fall. Cut a hole in the bracket with the hood still mounted ??

Check your oil cap and remove that stuffing. I had a new cap and the stop tabs wern't bent so when the cap went on it was closed off and built up pressure forcing oil out the rear main.

I have a loose pivot bolt nut on my 51 hood, does anyone know if the nut is a floating insert or welded to the bracket and what is the best way to get at it, can't be seen from under the hood and I really don't want to remove the whole hood if not necessary, any comments will be appreciated...
