Or your outer bearing cone has been spinning on your stub and has worn your stub od. If you quietly “snug” up the bearing nut and you still have the movement, remove the bearing and check that area, a common fault on old Stubs.

    Early peddle bushings

I went a different route, as both pedals and shaft wear, the shaft was more so and badly only on thrust side, bushing the pedals is only half the task. I just minimally reamed and honed the pedal bores back to round, and as the shaft also wears badly, removed it from the housing, built it up...

    Clutch Problem

As said, check the components first, on my 28 the holes were flogged out oval and the pins were worn and stepped badly. All this allows the pedal to only partially actuate the clutch giving the result you’re discribing..All this must be right before adjustments are made.

Start up after 40 years .

I just did it 3 years ago with an engine that had not run since 78. Fired it dry, had oil in the sump which was super clean on the dip stick, it only ran on 3 for a few seconds and I shut it down. As was mentioned before the condensation build up under the side plate was scary, turned out the...

A 7+ hour drive from my place, out into the Bush/desert with only a few miles of Bush track to reach the lake unlike the corrugated gravel road into Gairdener. I tightened up the bottom end prior to the last meet 3 yr ago and drive it regularly since so all good there. You sent me a copy of your...

    Magneto drive

Look up Red Dust Revival, that will explain where, Just a standard engine, tightened up the bottom end, header and trying a upside down repo Riley updraft manifold running a 94 this time around. Nothing flash, just a bit of fun. I have a A motor that was in a race car from the 40s and 50s ,not...

    Magneto drive

Running a Model XH Wico (foot mount) Magneto side mounted running off the cam gear, the mag drive gear used appears to be a crank gear which would make the mag run at crank speed. Do they run a wasted spark system? It has been suggested they use a mag with a 2:1 reduction drive but I can’t...

We visited by chance John Muir’s birth place (home ) in Scotland, set up as a museum, what a great man and life story.

several times the 2 blade fan loosens on the water pump

Your fan hub fits (or should) fit tightly on the tapered shaft. The nut snugs it up on the taper but only when it can’t fit on any further. It sounds like you are pulling it up against an end float locking ring as mentioned. Fit the fan only ,firm it up with the nut then check how much end play...

Re: Who is forging the Burtz blocks? Regardless of what? It was more a question than a statement. Not everyone is a knowall.
