Do not disconnect the generator from the battery and load or the generator will quickly destroy itself. Use a jumper across it like Bob's second method.

Add to Bob's fix, if you insulate the contacts you must also ground the generator output. Gen will burn up if run with no load. Grounding the output keeps it from developing damaging voltage.

Get the red bulb, it shines red through the amber lens which is more recognizable to other drivers.

Re: Favorite LED Headlight’s? Only complaint I've seen is their weight. Bumpy roads distort the socket and they lose contact. Original socket mounting might be strengthened somehow.

AGM batteries are the same as flooded lead acid except the electrolyte is contained in Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM). Still need venting, usually through a tube to the outside in modern cars. They are also spill proof, so can be shipped as nonhazard material. Charge as usual.

I leave on 24/7. I trust the manufacturer to incorporate over temperature shutdown. I would think that would be a requirement, but who knows?
