Help - 47 Ford manual transmission repair needed

Greetings all, The 2nd and 3rd synchronizers are broken in the manual transmission of the 47 Ford. Currently I can only use reverse and 1st gear only. I took the car to a transmission shop, and they told me that they can rebuild my transmission, but they won't remove the transmission for me...

    Installing a wiring harness

I would suggest paying a professional to install the wiring. Well worth every penny. Folks pay a few thousand easily for chrome trim and pay a ton for paint and body in regard to the exterior of their car but go cheap on the electrical.

47 Ford - 3 on the Tree question (Clutch question)

Hey everyone, Brace yourself for a bone headed question that i will be asking you. I have been starting the 47 ford for the past 30 years without holding my foot down on the clutch. I typically just feather the gas pedal and adjust my choke accordingly while cranking it over and the car has...

    Insurance that works

I think that is a great idea. I also been thinking about getting an apple air tag for the 47 ford the past year or so. Gas tank is too risky in my opinion to hide the air tag. I would suggest the door panels, in between your floor pan and carpet, trunk, almost anywhere.

    Electric Fuel Pump Installation

I had a similar problem. Even with an electric fuel pump you can drain your battery by starting your car. Make sure that your choke is closed when starting and slowly open up it as it starts to idle. Even with an electric fuel pump you still need to find the correct combination of fuel...

    starting issue carb or not

When starting your car is the manual choke fully closed, halfway or entirely open? Understanding how to use the manual choke can make a huge difference. For me, I always use to have issues initially starting my 47, but once I understood how to use the choke and how to pump and feather the gas...

    Gear Selector Stuck - 48

I encountered this before. Not sure if this will work for you but it fixed the problem for me. Follow the steering column under the hood and move the gears with your hand. It should pop back into place.

    47 outer door handle sagging

Had the same issue on my 47 Ford. I just swapped out the driver side door handles and put on the passenger side and put the passenger side on the driver side. It corrected the problem on 3 out of the 4 door handles.

1947 Ford Trunk Handle (Locked Out)

I locked the trunk, and wouldn't you know, the next day I tried to unlock, and now the key just keeps on spinning. So now I'm locked out of the trunk. Besides brute force and breaking off the handle is there any suggestions on how I can remedy this problem? I don't believe I can access the...

    Oil Bath Air Filter

Greetings all. I have the original oil bath air filter for my 47 ford and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a place/person that can restore/refinish this type of item. As far as I have researched, I don't believe any vendors make/sell as new. For now, I have an itty-bitty air filter that...

Did you know that one goat must thrive and produce for ten years to provide enough mohair to upholster the average five-passenger sedan.

    All new wiring...from who?

I got all my wiring harnesses from MACs Auto parts around 12 years ago and till this day i have had no problems. Each harness also came with its own schematic diagram. I really enjoyed doing all the wiring as it was a simple plug and play. The engine and car components that are on the...

    running with no thermostats

My 47 Ford doesn't have thermostats and is running great and fortunately never had an overheating problem in the 35 years I've owned it. As i started to get more educated on the subject i was going to add them around 15 years ago but i said to myself why should I if my car has never had a problem.
