    Fordbarn Average Age~Conclusion

I didn't get to vote either, i'm only 23 so i would have brought the average down.

What made you a "Ford" guy?

Complete chance. I wanted to get rid of my sport-bike last summer after a pretty scary near death experience and a simultaneous change in speeding laws. I went on the local online classifieds and looked in the classic car section to see if anyone wanted to trade an old car for a street-bike. I...

    Model A Buyers Guide

It's not advertised, but has been sitting there for sale for a while. It's not going anywhere but I am going to close the deal Monday evening. There is no Model A club anywhere around here, but there is a general antique car club. Not exactly sure what help they would be of in a model specific...

    Model A Buyers Guide

I light of it being a two door and not having a wooden sub-frame to worry about I will almost certainly buy it. I am quite excited to play around with a piece of history like this. As soon as it is securely mine I will post a bunch of pictures.

Not a DIY job? Also, would a car with a rotten subframe still be drivable? Would the body be obviously messed up, sagging and move-able? Did every Model A in 1928 have a wooden subframe or was it just the four door? Second edit: Just got off the phone with the guy, it's a two door

What kind of a job is replacing a wooden subframe?

Ok, if it readily visible i should have no trouble. I'll bring a long straight edge to check for frame sagging.

Has gasoline prices changed YOUR plans yet?

I live in Canada, I don't think anyone in the USA is in a position to worry about gas prices. Right now it is 130.7 per liter where i live, but the 57 Fairlane will still be cruising all summer. That equals out to be about 5$ per gallon.

How do i check the sub-frame wood? Is it best seen from under the car or what? P.S. I'm not asking how to tell if wood is rotten. P.P.S. It is a 1928

It has been stored inside for something like the last 40 years and has been run and lightly driven recently. I do have a fair bit of mechanical background, I'm actually an engineering student. But I'm not really familiar nor have any experience with Model A's specifically. I figured tires and...

I don't think the whole lien thing will be a problem, i think that is an American thing. I've never heard of that being a problem here in Canada.

I'm new at the VERY old car game. What should i look for when driving it? I'm really not used to driving anything near that old, with all the double clutching and whatnot.

If what i have been told is true then it runs and is yard drivable but hasn't been on the road in 30 years. Has a couple of holes in the floor boards but is otherwise solid. I was also told that it starts right up and doesn't smoke or make any weird or scary metallic noises. The price is...
