    ‘56 trunk key lock question

On all of my Fords and Mercurys, the trunk lock releases at 1/4 turn clockwise of the key and stops at exactly 1/2 turn of the key. Something is wrong with your lock if it turns full circle.

Fuel sending unit / fuel gauge on 1956 Thunderbird

Since the gauge registers but the reading is inaccurate, have you considered that the wire arm on which the float is mounted may simply need to be bent to where a correct reading is shown? I have used the following procedure on two of my cars: Pull the sender out of the tank including the...

    '54 front end alignment

GLAmes.....This won't do you any good, but fortunately there is still a tire and muffler shop in Oxnard, CA which didn't trash their old fashioned analog alignment machine (they also have a modern laser machine) and I have used them to do all of the wheel alignments on my '54's.

Re: 1955 Sunliner overdrive problem… Nobody else has mentioned this but maybe whoever converted the car to 12 volts didn't bother to also change the OD relay and solenoid to 12 volt units????? I am no OD expert so I don't know for sure if the original 6 volt relay and solenoid would still...

    54 Mercury ignition switch

With the key removed, you will see two slots in the outer chrome bezel at 90 degrees from the key slot. There is a special tool to do this but if you don't have it you can put the two points of a needle nose plyers in those slots and turn the bezel either counter-clockwise or clockwise (I can't...

    54merc how to duals?

If you want to spend $300.00+, there is a seller (not me) on Ebay who is selling what looks to be a factory 1954 Ford/Mercury left side dual exhaust manifold. The part # in the casting shown in his pics is illegible but you can tell if this is the correct one if the part # is EBU-9431-D and the...

    seat belts

There is a 1956 Ford Safety ad on line which might help. Put "1956 Ford Seatbelts" in Google and the ad will come up under "Curbside Classics". There is a small illustration in the ad which shows the location of the seat belt mounting brackets behind the front seat. Ford Barn won't let me...
