    K R Wilson distributor/timing fixture

We got one last year at the museum I volunteer at. Managed to get it apart to replace the wires (they were broken and too short). The thing does work as far a turning the light on at the marks on the ring. We just played with a few old/spare distributors. I seem to remember one of the...

    Fuel hoses

I recently went through this research. The “ normal “ hose is sae30R6 or R7. The good stuff is R9 or R14. The 14 is quality and long lasting but not for high pressure and was less $ than the R9.

    Trash Can Condenser price increase

I’ve looked at these for years with the intention of buying one (or two). Question - is it for a certain type of distributor? Helmet, Crab, 8BA?

    Helmet distributor lubrication

I recently asked some experienced (older) mechanic friends about what grease I should use on a distributor. Their answer was “distributor grease “. A good alternative may be disc brake caliper grease as it tends not to flow and go places it shouldn’t.

    Unbelievably easy transmission fix...

I had a similar experience with my 37 coupe. It’s like driving a different car. It was one item among many that shows that the previous owner didn’t understand much about cars.

Technical: Electrical- testing for solenoid or starter switch problem

Good to hear you found the problem. My battery tested good. I also tried jumping with another battery so I’m pretty sure it’s not the battery in my case. I’m planning to pull the starter again and try to figure out how to test it other than just spin it on the bench. Maybe it spins ok with...

Canadian guys lower their ‘41 Merc rear

Re: Canadian guys lower their ‘41 Merc rear My new to me 37 coupe came with the super long shackles on the front causing the axle to be right down on the bump stops. Not good. I ended up building a spring spreader to remove them. I cut off two inches and made new (square) holes. Would have...

Technical: Electrical- testing for solenoid or starter switch problem

I’m also having the buzzing solenoid problem on my 37 coupe. Internet research says bad connections or low/bad battery. Had the battery tested and cleaned all the connections but that didn’t fix it. Pulled the starter and looked inside, brushes and all look fine. After all this it turned...

    Differences between 37/38 and Standard/Deluxe

The lines of the club vs regular are quite a bit different. I'd prefer to club just to open up the options and use the car in more ways. I doubt I'll find a club so will end up with the great looking lines of a regular coupe. Kind of a win/win situation. Tried the Wanted section but no action.

    Differences between 37/38 and Standard/Deluxe

In my quest to find a 37/38 coupe of my own I keep running into details that cause me to question or not be able to identify what I'm looking at. Some of the differences I've been able to notice or research are: 1. The standards only have one tail light so would be more difficult to add turn...
