Welcome to the New 52-59 Ford group

I’ve documented lots of progress on my 59. Who knows, maybe I’ll start a mini build thread!

    Lincoln-based Columbia OD

Thanks for the advice Brian. I noticed some of the axle bells have a vent and some don’t. That explains it.

    Lincoln-based Columbia OD

Great thread. I’m gathering parts for this right now. I just acquired a complete unit for a Ford although I need to make it work for my 39 Zephyr.

    Painting an Engine

I’ve seen Uncle Tony use a torch as paint prep to clean an engine. He makes a good point about pulling out the moisture from the iron. If you’re worried about damaging something internally then you might consider heating the whole engine with a shop heater while monitoring the temperature with...

1959 Ranchero turn signal & horn combo switch

Well I paid my way out of the rabbit hole. I bought the aftermarket one from fleabay, I’ll report back when I get it installed. The NOS one you shared is exactly like mine, but I decided to go with the other one because it is brand new and and 75 bux cheaper.

    door stuck shut

The latch on my 59’ was really tricky. It felt like the door was shut but it would fly open when I least expected it! After cracking the window from slamming the door I figured it was overdue for an adjustment

    1939 Lincoln 4-door value

They are both 38’s as shown by the horizontal fins on the grill and the embossed lines behind the teardrop hoodside emblem. 38&39 tail lights are the same. Some of the parts are worth a fortune but it would be a shame to go that route.

    rear brake drum puller

I have the other style that gets secured behind 3 lug nuts. I like this style much better

    Aerostar spring isolaters.

I used Aerostar coils in my 59’ Rancho, no isolators. Front end sits just right and rides great
