1931 Phaeton how many were made and how many exist today?

A friend of mine owns a 31 two-door deluxe teardrop firewall. He claims it is only one of about 28 or 29 in existence, I feel like it’s a few more than that, closer to 50? but I’m not sure it’s fun to drive to the club though! When it’s not 6,000,000° outside. Phaeton model did not age well.

    ebay radiators

Escape from witch mountain reference? Nice! I personally favor the old equipment, but for a reliable driver it’s worth a try, I don’t know the answer but I would like to see someone dig in there and try it and share the story of the hiccups along the way. Still though, even a crummy radiator...

    The 5 main engine.

Right on, My initial concern is a slow idle taking a trip when everything’s oil flooded and counterbalanced every engine makes its unique sound because a combination of intake fuel mixture internal components and exhaust components…. essentially the engine sounds like it does because it is the...

    Zenith Carb

The best person to work on your model a is you, I would recommend you visit YouTube and look up Paul shin’s video of Robert Gimron rebuilding a zenith, it’s a good start, you will need the know how for trips of any length in an old flibber. There is not much to do outside of completely cleaning...

    The 5 main engine.

Terry bertz engine, I cannot find one video of one idling or running built to look stock, the engine is way up there in the intrigued department of my brain, but I will not order it if it does not sound just like a model-a when built, can anyone confirm this? I have seen the video with Terry...

    Two piece splash aprons

It sounds like The fender was disassembled for rust clean up or has been replaced with the 31 fender, if your fenders are side mount then they are likely original side mount fenders for the 31 and the splash apron was bolted up to them. Final possibility may be they are completely unoriginal, in...

Does this leakless waterpump need to be lubed?

Pull the shaft out and see if the bearings are dry, if they are? lube them, all bearings need lube, maintenance free bearings just have a long term/high heat lube inside of them and shield/seals on the sides I have never seen a maintenance free bearing in one of these water pumps It is not once...

    Laminated Timing Gear

Check the inside of your distributor for copper flakes remove and make sure it’s free and fully lubricated, The best gear to replace it with is a “composite” gear so that it doesn’t tear up your block when it fails next time.. it will fail eventually but it is better to rip up the shaft In a...

    Blind back briggs,

Last question for this thread, Is there any way to know how many of these 30dux blindbacks were made by Briggs, or Murray? In the south the Briggs is uncommon but I have read in more then one place that Briggs made most of the bodies between the two?

    Blind back briggs,

I had the same thought on the engine myself by date it barely fits the “original “ narrative. The reason I’m curious if it’s possible is because the car has only 2000 original miles and everything on it supports that as a Accurate reading, shocks all steel move, sheet metal is perfect fenders...

    Blind back briggs,

Thank you, as for the interior mohair, would that have been camel when new? I have planned to put that in,( original is to far gone) it actually was my plan to paint the lower body maroon, I wanna keep it very close to original, or at least make the trip back to original very easy. Did the...
