OT: What type wood between frame rails and truck box?

Terry, I had the local mill size doug fir on a taper from 4 in to 2 ins in 14 ft to fit in between the frame and a 3200 gal water tank on my water truck 30 years ago, its been through hell and back and still good and its exposed to the elements.

Ford Model AA Duel Rear Axles

Its an odd set up alright but it works, this set up doesn't hold the drive axle up when going over a driveway or steep incline. I need to get more and better pictures. Stickshift come down to the Plymouth show in April. Thanks Red, its powered with 59 AB with 4 spd main and a 3 spd aux.

Expell old tube, lock plunger back install new tube with plunger end open, remove pull tab end, put head on 1 to 2 turns release plunger then put head on the rest of the way, problem solved, at least that seems to always work for me, or drill a small hole in the threaded end of the barrel about...

    Carb problem

I had thought of the electric pump but was gonna hook it to the stomp starter so that it only ran when starting, but I'm just a little on the hard headed side, it worked fine till a few months ago, but I'll recheck the lines and glass bowl along with the other things that have been pointed out.

Not using the hydrostatic set up it had rotted and fell apart I have a short nipple sticking up from the old plate to draw fuel, I have a vented gas cap but I'll check it again, the lines are good and the fuel filter is clean, what has always made me wonder is the line from the tank to the pump...

    Mystery battery ??

Jim is correct that is a 6/12 battery, start on 12 run on 6, you could leave the 6 volt starter in just don't lean on the starter hard to start it, there is no parallel switch to go with it, I believe you can still buy them, pretty pricey last time I looked.

Woven vs molded linings for cast iron drums

I read all the posts but a lot of the posters say the woven works better in the steel drums of which is what is on the truck, I had been thinking of going bonded but the brake place I use that has been in business for 50 years or so says the woven is what they use on crane drums and its the...

    Pulling my head out...

I had to remove a 6 cylinder head off of a Contintental engine, kryoil between the head and the studs, candle wax also, the torch on the outside of the head where the studs were, then I built jacking plates, I put the nts back on the top of the studs and leveled them out, then got all thread...

Woven vs molded linings for cast iron drums

Now that this discussion is up and running I'll jump in, I'm working on a 34 1 1/2 ton truck with mech brakes and woven linings, it has a soft pedal, doesn't stop and even has a vacume assist booster on it, it'll slow toy down but if it had a load on it you better drag your swamper to stop...
