    C4 conversion

I have a 8" rear with 2.79 : 1 ratio. The kick-down lever is not connected. It is a bit tall but I have adjusted the shifter module so with my foot hard on the gas it changes into 2nd at 3,000 RPM which is 30 MPH. 60 MPH is around 2,400 RPM. I like it! And that's all that matters, really. I did...

    C4 conversion

I have a flathead with a C4. I use the original column shifter. I made my own connecting rods. It's not that difficult. I'm sure you could adapt a cable shifter, all under the floor. I ended up using the the 1st and reverse linkage to shift the trans, I put a length of all-thread through the 2nd...

1951 Mercury 12 Volt Conversion Horn Problem

The horn circuit should have battery voltage for its entire length. On both sides of the actual horn, and all the way to the horn button. The horn button is just a momentary switch to ground. To test, disconnect one wire on the horn. If both terminals on the horn have battery voltage you have...

installing turn signals on 1941 using LEDs. anyone?

You can buy a low voltage DC piezo. Typically work on 3V DC to 24V DC. You connect it to the pilot terminal on the flasher unit. Just be careful of the volume as some are up to 90dB. I have one connected to an oil pressure sender. You could also try Pick a Part and get an audible alarm from a...

32 Flathead V8 too tight for starter to turn

When I was an apprentice, one of the older guys told me how they would start a flathead after a rebuild. They would tow it to the top of a nearby hill and use a combination of bump starting in 3rd gear and cranking with the starter. Obviously check that it is going to rotate before hand.

    1947 Coupe running board mounting?

I'm going through this at the moment. What is the thread size for the two body mount bolts that go through the running boards? One is at the front near the A pillar. One in the center near the B pillar. Thank you.

Also check out the the post by RobWi 8BA rebuild I believe this is an 8RT configuration. This is how you want the front of the motor to look, but shinier!

    single 5/8 belt on 59

I have found a correct pulley for your setup. It is not on an engine so I have measured it sitting on a flat surface. From the engine (back) side of the pulley to the center of the the water pump / generator belt is 2". The belt center for the fan is a further 1 1/4". I'm reasonably confident...

    single 5/8 belt on 59

The snout on the 8RT water pumps are longer to clear the distributor. They use the wide belts and they have the same engine mounts as the 59A.
