Can you change the valve seals on a 55 272 with the heads on the engine, and if so, how do you keep the valves from falling into the cylinders when the springs are removed? Are the seals a soft material like neoprene?

Can I use a regulator of a higher amp rating on my 6 volt 55 Crown. The car had a 40 amp originally and I would like to replace it with a 50 amp nos one I got. The original one is not functioning properly, that's why it needs replacing.
