Some of the olld guys here ran 8vlt tractor batteries to "get a better spark" I know one that has one in a 50 Merc right now. The only change he made was to adjust the voltage regulator to charge a little more. He's my best friend's Dad. We talk flathead all the time.

Glass bowl is the inlet side. Pull the line loose on the carb. side, with the coil wire unhooked, and a rag under the line. Turn the car over a few times and see if you are getting gas. If no, take the gas cap off and try again. With the gas cap off, you can disconnect the line on the glass...

You might get an offset generator braket. I got one at Speedway. You can adust the "line up" for the belt back and forth queit a bit. That might fix you up.

I mounted a Fenton intake on my 50 Ford motor (stock motor). I installed #46 jets and 4.5 power valves in the Holley 94 carbs. Do I use both sets of idle screws? How many turns out from closed to set them. The idle is very eradic. Slows down and speeds up at will. I have to choke it to...

This is not the greatest pic, but it show the entire gearbox to the right, and overdrive unit on the left. You will want to have someone check the overdrive unit for you and make sure the OD gears are ok. These work well when in good condition, and will help you out when hitting the highways...

I run 80-95 synthetic in mine and it works great. I ran 80-95 Castoroil, gear oil, in my Merc OD for years with no problem.
