I used Larry Bledsoe ‭+1 (909) 855-7853‬, He rebuilt 2 steering boxes for me. He's in Redlands CA. He did a great job.

When I got my bench seat done in the pick up I got 4 yds of broadcloth wool and had at least 2 yards leftover. So I would roughly figure 8 yards for the front and back seats. And another 6 yards for the headliner. The door panels you'd probably have enough leftover to use for them. But to be...

Thanks Wayne , yeah I kinda thought so! What year was that offered? Before 1950 when they started with the roundish face fronts of the magic air units?

As I said it’s the fresh air tubes that bring outside air in from the front grille to the cab. That’s it! That’s the “magic” in magic air.

The heater control switch isn’t factory correct but is period correct. I’m uncertain about that heater as you said it’s a recirculating type not the magic air one at least not from 52. The only difference is no fresh air tubes over the front passenger wheel.

The 4 dimples on top of the dash are; 2 for installation the electric wipers. Then the other two lower ones and closer together are are actually in all cabs and are only for the larger trucks they are for air brake guage believe it or not.

Im also 5'11" and own the same truck. Although I dont do a ton of work on mine I do find even routine cleaning and maintenance difficult to access in this truck. From your pics looks about right but i can measure it at some point if someone else doesnt already do that. But my mechanic whose a...

Are these knobs a 3/8"- 24 thread or something else? Also weren't the originals molded opposite of this? The V-8 was proud of the knobs surface. Here this one appears like it's carved out/molded out of the negative space - meaning like an engraving below the surface of the knob. I have no idea...

I would use Chuck’s Trucks in CT. He knows everything about these trucks and answers his own phone. He is an invaluable source of information. chuck4850@outlook.com (203) 288-2769

I would recommend using a traditional one part marine varnish my favorite is Epifanes. These types of coating are breathable. The wood can breather through them no problem. But if you like as you build up your varnish system by first applying diluted coats with their quality thinner in...

Chucks Trucks in CT now makes the correct red color for Truck engines 48-51. The common red color you see is too bright. His is a darker shade and it looks beautiful on an engine.

Steve Blancard is the best at what he does. I'm really glad I found him! He rebuilt 4 generators for me. Each one had a different set of issues ...fresh off a "professional rebuilder's" bench, and he thoroughly documented and explained each problem and solution and every detail. I learned a lot.

Some were nickel plated (shiner) and some were cadmium plated almost a chalky finish to it (dull finish). Different part numbers but used interchangeably. This all according to Lyn Stacey. I remember him describing this and I bought both variations of the guns for my 52 truck tool kit.

Bill Hirsch lists a lot of Mercury variations of the name Green. But there is also a "Mercury Green". Too bad they dont show any colors. I know when i went to their warehouse in Newark they had a paint samples there. My engine, a 52 truck engine, I used this enamel I really like it brushes...

I would put in an in-line buss type fuse on it. I'm not sure if they came with them or not originally. I had something similar happen to my engine compartment light accessory years ago. I bought some older type inline ones on e-bay that look period correct. Looking at your car I think you'd...
