Caps and rotors in good shape are almost impossible to find for these old Mallory's. They have been discontinued for years and any NOS are gobbled up by the hoaders.

John: There appears to be a 3.25 first gear with a 2nd gear of 1.92 and then there is a 3.01 first gear with a 2nd of 1.78. I haven't taken my apart yet and am assuming it's the higher gear of 1.92. Do you know your ratio and how modified is your engine? Thanks!

Do you notice a huge drop off in your F150 trans from the 2nd to 3rd shift? Takes a while to get it going in 3rd even though it's a 1:1 ratio. I have plenty of power from my inserted B with Crower rods, cam, headers, igntion and carb. A friend suggests that I take out the 4:11's in the rear.

Has anyone tackled the exteme drop in RPM from the 2nd to 3rd shift. In Colorado, the forward motion really drops on it's face when you shift, 1st and 2nd is fine, after a good run 3rd is ok, but it takles a while to get the rpm back after that shift from 2nd to 3rd. And 4:11's don't help it...

Anyone out there with a F150 Truck 4 speed transmission in a Model A? Is your 2nd to 3rd shift tough, feels like their should be another gear between them??
