    292 V8 carb alternative

thanks for the info Sal. Yes it leaks at the o rings between the bowl and base. Is there a method to help seal that area? When it is not leaking, the engine runs fine, would like to keep it original.

    292 V8 carb alternative

Have a 292 V8, '56 Ford, 4bbl. All original, Has T-Pot Holley Carb, I rebuilt and continues to leak. What would be an alternative carb for this engine that would fit the stock manifold?

    55 Ford fuel gauge issue

Ok thanks all the info, kind of confusing for me as a novice to electrical systems, however I did put a reducer on the gauge, reduced to 6v. Got the reducer from Obsolete/Classic Parts. The fuel gauge read slightly over 1/2 so I filled the tank, about 6 Gals. It shows Full but the needle floats...

    55 Ford fuel gauge issue

I do have a resister that will drop the voltage back to 6V Guess I will try that. The gauge is original. On the oil, generator and temp, the car has after market gauges mounted under the dash, they work fine. The sending unit was sent with the new gas tank, supposed to be correct for the...

    55 Ford fuel gauge issue

55 Ford, Fairlane, 272, converted to 12V system. The fuel gauge on the dash will not read properly. Goes to full when tank is full, the needle will fluctuate down and up when driving, going from full to half or quarter then back to full. I've put in a new tank, sending unit, checked wiring going...

1957 Ford park will not hold

Thanks for all the info. Not sure if I would want to try to fix this myself, don't know much about trans repairs. If that pawl is easy to locate and change after I take the pan down then I might try it.

1957 Ford park will not hold

I have a 1957 Ford Ford-O-Matic 2 speed. When it is in the park position the car still rolls, does not lock up. All the other gears, reverse, neutral, drive work fine and are aligned with the shifter marks. I have checked the linkage and it is tight, no loose bushing, and the lever cannot go...

    steering turning radias

I must be turning or working on the wrong adjustment. The one I loosened and turn only moved the steering wheel. I am probably doing something wrong?

    steering turning radias

I looked thru the forum and could not find an issue similar to what I have. 1946 Ford sedan, tudor, when tuning left, the wheels will turn only about 1 1/2 turn on the steering wheel. It is hard to make a sharp or full turn left. Turning right is no problem, the steering wheel will turn at...

    Starting problems

Thanks for all the information. I did put in a different condenser I had from another distributor, it seems to be running okay and re-starting for now. I will be taking it on a long ride soon to check it out further. I have ordered some other condensers a spares. Hope this fixes it, it not I...

    Starting problems

1946 Ford Sedan, all original. Engine starts easily when cold and runs great, no misfires, no fuel issues. After I drive the car about 20 miles or so and turn it off, it will not start again until the engine sits for a while and cools down some. I use the 20 mile example because that is about...

    Lights go on and off

I did replace the light switch. The lights go on and off while sitting still, not moving. Not sure where the thermal cut off would be or what it looks like. I will look and try to check that out. I guess that is the same as the circuit breaker also mentioned.
