Could you post a pic so we might better understand what you are asking for? The windwing brackets attach to the stanchions, not the windshield frame.

I think you will find that Bert's sell the shocks made by Bratton's. They are oil filled and sealed and lettered on the cover similar to the originals. They are made in NJ if I recall correctly. I have a set and they are terrific. Snyder's sells a shock made in Brazil that is oil filled and...

I have a set of the Bratton's shocks on one of my cars. They look right and fit properly. They are adjustable. They work well as intended.

We have a fellow in the local club who is looking to have some restoration work done on his car. He is not planning on any fine point judging. Original brackets were forged, with an accordingly cast-like finish. The bracket would have been painted in black enamel originally.

I've always used wheel bearing grease.
