Thanks for replying, unfortunately bit to far from Uk for me. 35 Phaetons must be rarer than I thought over there. As far as I know mine is the only English one in the Uk.
1935 Phaeton. Has anyone got the correct spacing dimensions for the top boot fixings on the shelf behind the rear seat and the ones above the spare wheel on the hood trim. Also the correct type of fittings. Thank you.
Post#7. That’s one of three engines of this type that I have. The water outlet is connected to the ‘tin sided’ block. Most of these engines suffered from cracked blocks and were apparently recalled and replaced with the later three main bearing engine. My engines are currently for sale.
I own the English phaeton in question. It is now fully restored to as near original as is possible. Very little information exists as to what the original specification was. The original manufacturer plate states it was manufactured in Dagenham England, made in Canada. No doubt it also contains...
When the supports are removed the treaded holes are obscured by the rear curtain. The part they screw into is a substantial casting screwed to the rear body rail.
Sorry David, I should have said English assembled. Thanks for the measurements. Like you have said the incorrect hole will possibly remain a mystery. Although it would be interesting if anyone else has come across this rogue stamping.
I’m in the process of re-trimming an English built very early 1935 phaeton, with the forward mounted door handles. It appears the original front door mechanism is mounted further forward than the American versions. The door trim/card has two holes. What looks like an original hole in the trim...
The glove box door in your photo is the same as my very early build 35 phaeton. I mistakingly ordered a new spring clip, only to find the same problem, ie no bar to attach to. Apparently early 35’s used a catch at the top of the door. It appears your door my have been replaced by a earjy 35...
Encountered the same problem when assembling my 35. It’s surprising just how much the support rods pull the rad back to the correct position. Had me double checking the fan also.
Sorry for hi-jacking the post, but still related. Does anyone have a modern day part number for a suitable rear shock absorber for this set up, preferably Armstrong or Monroe. My car is a stock 35 phaeton.
