    Recycled Oil Again.....Oh Please!

Both the US Military and NASCAR are running vehicles with recycled oil, albeit with vastly different additive packages. Safety Kleen supplies both. You cannot get much more "mission critical" than the military or NASCAR. So, if it is good enough for them (and they have proven this to be the...

    I've had enough......

Same here - it is just miserable trying to pull my engine in a freezing cold garage!! I forgot what "above freezing" feels like!!

    Turn Signals

Not exactly what you are asking about, but more 'authentic looking' than most: http://www.turnswitch.com/Turnsignal.htm Anybody bought this??

    Thinking of selling my car

I totally agree. That car is beautiful and could fetch $25K from a first time buyer, i.e. not an in-depth Model A insider. Just look at what sold at Barrett-Jackson this year for far more, with no authenticity at all - there was a lime green Model A that sold for nearly $30K!

Victoria Body inboard seatbelt anchor points

On the Victoria body, have other owners used the central thick metal plate (that is the rest for the front seat bottom cushion) as an anchor point for the inboard half of lap belts? Not a great body style for anchor points for the inboard part of the belt, because of the recessed metal pan for...

    You're probably tired of this

Whenever I have sold a car on the internet here (on Kijiji, which is a better Canadian and European version of Craigslist), I have arranged to meet the buyer at any nearby branch of his/her bank, to confirm funds in the account and obtain a bank draft for the agreed price. We then drive to my...

Gas and Service Stations in Toronto, Canada circa 1930

t-head thank you for this amazing photo. Some of the photos that you post are such high quality that one feels they can walk into the scene. What I mean is that parts of Toronto still look like this, although the painted signs on buildings, gas pumps and cars are long gone. Amazing archives -...

    Pinion gear lash adjustment

Tom, thank you for your helpful instructions. And to others, yes I have thoroughly read the instuctions. I live close to nobody who has ever done this before. I have not only read the instructions, but have bought all of Les Andrews books and practically memorized them. I have the pinion...

    7 Tooth Steering Rebuild

Tyler if you are close to Mac's, then you are not terribly far away from Snyder's; at least within a 2-3 hour drive - if you are buying heavy parts, it could be worth your drive to Snyder's, as well, to save the shipping cost.

    Pinion gear lash adjustment

John, I asked the same question a while ago and the consensus was that I should make no adjustment. It was suggested that I just reinstall my original pinion gear on the shortened driveshaft and reassemble, implying that using the original gear would give me my old settings, before the banjo...

Model A Fords and Ford 2.0 and 2.3 engines

I think people are being unfair to Ken Parker here. I have communicated with him by email on another topic and he is really deovted to sustaining the Model A, in every regard.

The Little Known Leach Automobile, with a Harry Miller Designed sohc-Six

T-head, I really enjoy reading your posts, whether or not they are about the Model A. Please keep them coming!! What amazes me most is how sophisticated the engineering and technology was back in the day, long before computer-assisted design and manufacutring and before synthetic materials! An...

Anyone ran one of the "new" Sacramento Vintage Ford carburetors?

Steve, can you give some details on the air filter fitting issue with this carb - have you been able to get any air filter to fit? Can you also comment on the modification to the gasoline line fitting - did you just need a different size/thread nut on the end of your line? Thanks, Paul
