    What does "AR" actually mean?

I posted this yesterday just as the site was closing so hope it doesn't appear twice, Further to Jim's comments, here is an example from the June 1928 Canadian Parts Price Book that shows some parts designated as "AR". Note how #2084-AR mentions that it is for the first 500 Canadian cars. This...

Ideas for mounting relay blocks and light switches

I made a little switch panel that mounts under the dash rail, attached to existing bolts. I can send you a sketch if needed. I mounted a fuse block on the firewall so its out of the way but easily accessable.

Question for those who installed an F1 steering in your A.

I installed mine a few years ago but it the chassis was bare. Looking at it now there seems to be lots of room to drill from the outside. I think you also have to enlarge the hole for the shaft housing to fit through. You can find more information here...

Using DOUBLE Back Tape on Interior of Doors

I have found velcro works well to hold door panels in place, so you can easily remove them if need be. Staple one side to the wood frame and glue the other side.

How to install door lock cylinder

Not sure if its the same, but for my Model A I pushed a short piece of plastic straw over the shaft, pinched the end then it was easy to line up with the hole. Pull hard on the straw while pushing the handle and the shaft will slide in.

    45B Top Moulding substitute thinktank?

If it's what I think you need (A47301F in my old Mac's catalogue), how about this: take some thinwall aluminum tubing, run it through some rollers to squish it almost flat, then cut a slit down the middle of the top side. Drill and nail as needed then close up the seam like you would with the...

    Paint Hardeners

I just went through the same issue when I wanted to use up some PPG DAR acrylic enamel but the recommended hardener is no longer made. I found some ProForm 2.1 VOC Universal Urethane Hardener (it may be called something different in USA) and it worked well with the enamel and also with PPG JTX...

LED taillight problem - Hello, electrical experts!!!

The upper brake light part of one of mine failed as well after about 1 year of use. I confirmed it wasn't a wiring problem so just bought a replacement lens. It has been working fine ever since. Mine is a 12 volt system. It happens sometimes with electronics.

    Radial tires on spoke wheels

I found a white paper published by SEMA regarding the use of radial tires on classic vehicle rims. It doesn't address the use of tubes but does caution about the increased possibility of stress fractures. i would imagine that the higher bulging of the radials might also tend to push it away from...

    Radial tires on spoke wheels

Modern rims have an extra bead that helps seal and hold the tire in place. Note how they pop in place when inflated. I think its a safety issue. For that reason I put tubes in my radials on 16" wires. My only worry is that a nail might cause a sudden deflation rather than a slow leak.

    MAFCA Membership Renewal

What's the deal with MAFCA sending renewal notices in August? Are they getting short of funds? By the time we in Canada pay a $10 premium(covers mailing), credit card fees at source, foreign transaction fees, 40% exchange it gets up close to $100. Paying by cheque saves a little.

Scraped Fender - Paint Repair Tips?

Have you tried to contact PPG Refinish to ask for a local supplier in your area? I have been able to get as little as 1/2 pint mixed by my supplier when I was trying to match a Ford blue, it was about $30, but hardener and reducer is extra. They may be able to put it in a spray can for you, as...

Just Set Toe ...WOW It Helped

Here is what I use. Simple, quick, accurate as any, no need to roll car forward or back, best of all cheap - made with scrap wood. It makes virtually no difference how high you measure. Picture two flat vertical wooden boards pointed slightly in. Measure between them front and back. Up or down...

    LED Tail light options

Jay Jay, if you run a separate parallel power feed to the cowl lights, the tail lights will not come on as they are on a separate circuit from the light switch. I mounted a toggle switch with an LED indicator on my steering column using a little L-bracket. I have bright white LED's in my cowl...
