The title says it all. I pulled the transmission in my 41 and rebuilt it due to a blown bearing. Now, it's install time and I can't get the input shaft to line up enough to let the shaft slide in the clutch and drop the rear mounts on the donuts. I'm missing something stupid simple here I'm...
Ok, I assume I just loosen the u bolt to the frame and raise it after everything else is disconnected? Im going to build a cradle out of 2x10s and lift the rear of the body up with my chain fall. should be fairly easy from what you all have described from there.
Thanks for all the help guys!
Hey all,
I getting ready to swap transmissions in my 41 woodie and wanted to know if I need to drop the rear end from the rear spring with a spreader off the shackles. Can I just back the whole thing out with the spring attached and no spreading?
Thanks in advance,
Jon
Hi All,
I have a dumb question. I need to drop the rear end in my 41 woodie. All I have and can find is a spreader for model A's. My guess is it's much too short for this application. Has anyone made longer arms for these and had success? I'm curious as to the max length to take the load off...
Thanks for the replies guys! It sounds like Im just going to have to bite the bullet and rewire it now and not next spring. Wish me luck, and thanks again.
So my 41 Ford woodie has all original wiring that someone has dicked with at some point before she came to me, and is wired improperly in the lighting circuit. I know it needs to be rewired, and I plan on doing so in the spring. Sadly everything is soldered in under the dash...
Here's how...
Hey Folks,
So I was driving my 41 Ford woodie yesterday and noticed a new noise in the transmission. I've always had a whine in first gear, which is par for the course whether clutch in or out on deceleration and coast. But when in third gear, if I let off the gas I get a very faint whine...
I just went through this with my 48 Plymouth. I had a hard grab on the left front so I pulled it to investigate. The linings were failing badly, and were falling apart in chunks! I relined the old shoes myself and used rivets. no problems now. Id stay away from the new bonded stuff.
Hey All,
So I asked for advice on this before, and got some great information from people, but I am missing one very import part of using the timing jig; I cant figure out how to get power to it.
I have two jumpers from a 6 volt lantern battery going to the terminals in the box of the...
I just bought this, and have very happy hazard instructions. The jig only has one lead. I can't figure our how to juice her up. Thanks in advance for the help fellas!!!
