Technique To Count Most Remaining A's

Two things: I have kept my ears open since becoming an A owner in yr 2000, for the number of A's still existing. The number I've heard the most is around 300,000. Second - to account for 2% of surviving 15,000,000 T's vs. 5% of surviving 5,000,000 A's, many T's were at end of life during the...

    Blankety-Blank Carb still leaking . . . .

rivco Out of curiosity, while I had my carb apart today to fix a leaky float valve, I looked at the comp jet. It has a 19 marked on it. Somewhere I have an explanation of what the jet numbers mean, but don't know exactly where right now. While I had things apart, I put a slightly thicker gasket...

    Blankety-Blank Carb still leaking . . . .

Rivco I tried a different comp jet years ago, and I haven't had the stalling problem since. I don't remember whether the orifice was much larger than the one I had, but my logic was, if the secondary well is running out of gas(my guess) I'll just refill it faster. I think I read that this...

    1928-29 phaeton front lap belts

Noise probably due to water pump.

See if you can take hold of one fan blade and wiggle the fan on the shaft. Sometimes the fan and shaft taper don’t match.

Help!! Flathead Ted Floater Kit Problems

I guess I didn’t really answer your question. I’m not sure what to do with the top adjuster while holding the brake and tightening the anchor bolt. I’ll look for my instructions and see if it’s spelled out.

A notched stick hold the brake pedal down if you don’t have a second person.

Help!! Flathead Ted Floater Kit Problems

I’d have to find my FHT instructions, but I believe I held the brake pedal down with the anchor bolt loose, then tightened it. This centers the shoes and locks them there.

Help!! Flathead Ted Floater Kit Problems

Don’t know about one being higher than the other. Did you center the shoes by applying the brakes and then tightening the lower anchor bolt?

Help!! Flathead Ted Floater Kit Problems

Hi Josef Welcome to Ford Barn. I installed FHT kit a few year’s ago. No problems in 15000 miles. I would try to find which wheel is locking by driving on a gravel area and applying the brakes. Then back off the brake adjustment on the backing plate a little at a time. Another thing I do is feel...

What can you do with a shop press?

Sometimes the cylindrical pieces needed to press bushings in or out are my sockets.

    Phaeton Top Problem

Another thing that I’ve suspected of causing this on my A is that the driver side stanchion is slightly bent rearward more than the passenger side about 5/16”which would tilt the bow downward on the driver side, my low side.

    Phaeton Top Problem

Gnico On my 28 there is a sort of locking device made into the the ends of the bows where the thumb screw tightens. There’s a protruded vee on one side and a matching groove on the opposite side so when the bows are pushed up and tightened they are locked into position. Mine never held the joint...

    Pressurized Radiator

Hi John I don’t know about pressuring your system, but I had the same problem as you. I would have to add a qt or more water every time I stopped. Our club tech guy said to add a 160 degree thermostat. I can’t explain it, but since I installed the thermostat last spring I have only added water...

    camshaft (Long)

Aermotor I’m an amateur at working on A’s but here’s one that happened to a friend and I- the timing linkage was hitting the top of the head when advanced and it would lift the distributor plate out of kilter causing us to chase our tails for awhile. Probably not your problem but it’s very easy...
