    34 Ford Hydrostatic Fuel Gauge

Nice job. I restored mine years ago, it would work but the level on the gage only showed how much gas you had when driving. Is that normal. Also how much do you fill it up. Where does the fluid go.

    29 phaeton top Install

A buddy gave me some advise when installing my top. He said do it on a warm sunny day so the material is expanded to a max. That way it is tight on the hot days.

    Need for more speed

I set it with the pin on timing gear and use a light to find when the points open. Points set between .018 and .020.

    Front axle king pin holes

Here’s what I did. I put JB weld in the axle hole at both ends. I then wrapped the king pin with one layer of wax paper and inserted it into the axle. I put in the locking pin and tightened it. The next day I slid the king pin out and peeled away the wax paper and checked the fit. It was tight...

    Front axle king pin holes

I did think about shims but it would most likely be aluminum and when jb weld advertises stronger than steel I decided to make my shim from jb weld instead. It has 3900 psi of strength so it’s a test to see what it will hold up to.

    Front axle king pin holes

Thanks for that. You are most likely right. If I get the summer out of it I will be happy. I am hopeful though because a bushing is designed as a sleeve for a moving part and this is a stationary part. Maybe some movement as you said due to flexing etc but mostly pressure. I’ll keep you posted.

    Front axle king pin holes

Thanks for all the info. Because I am avoiding removing the axle and have nothing to lose, I am trying an experiment. I put jb weld in the axle hole where it appeared to be worn on the top and bottom and wrapped the kingpin with one layer of wax paper and installed the king pin and locking nut (...

    Front axle king pin holes

Yes but when I compare the two sides of the axle one hole isquiteabit larger than the other. The pin no longer tightens up the king pin

    Front axle king pin holes

Hi guys. I had some play in my front wheel so I disassembled the spindles thinking I need new bushings but it looks like the axle hole has worn and is oversized. I read where someone put the kingpin in the hole and run an arc weld vertically down the outside of the hole so it would shrink when...

    Cuts out

Thanks for all the info. It cuts out at the same spot when I move the lever. I did take the distributor apart and the pigtail looks fine but I am not sure if it can break inside. Also, how do you check to see if its a short.
