Advise on cam, head and valve spring selection for 276

I am almost done with my first 276 flathead build. I have the bottom end done along with the valve train. I am running Isky Max 1 and Isky springs. I found the adjustable lifters to be loose, so I ordered some new Isky lifters. This first engine has Isky springs set at . 2.00. I had to use the...

where can I get some valve springs for an Isky 185G cam

I have several used springs that come in at 55 pounds installed height. They are old and used. Should I re-use them with .060 shims for a Max 1 cam or buy new. Who has the deal? Should I just do some 185G springs and let it fly?

What spring rate should I set with stock springs and an 8CM camshaft

That is not possible. It doesnt get to 45 pounds until well after 1.800. At coil bind, it barely hits 80. These arent even close to being OEM spec. I will call Goodson and see what they have. I am looking for at least 60 0n the seat.

What spring rate should I set with stock springs and an 8CM camshaft

. I am going to have new seats installed along with new valves. My guess is that the installed height will come in well below 2.00 inches. I had an engine shop for 10 years. I know about wear from to much cam duration and spring rate. As a VW aircooled drag racer that can run the 10.80 class, I...

What spring rate should I set with stock springs and an 8CM camshaft

It doesnt nee that much spring... An 8CM is considered stock. With a .060 shim, the stock new OEM spring will be perfect.

What spring rate should I set with stock springs and an 8CM camshaft

I am having a hard time deciding on valve springs for a Merc rebuild. I just ordered an 8CM camsahft from Delta. The specs are 208 effective at .050 with a .338 lift. I ordered some Isky 185 G springs, but they are way to stiff. I then ordered a fairly nice valve rebuilt kit, however, the...

stock NOS fomoco valve springs on a 236 @.050 .355 lift cam

I found some NOS stock springs from 1955 for $70 plus shipping. There is so much room to coil bind That I could easily shim .060 to >080 and still have .080 to coil bind on a .355 cam. Should I buy them?

stock NOS fomoco valve springs on a 236 @.050 .355 lift cam

I am building a 4.125 by 3.312 stroker. It will have dual carbs with 43 main jets, and a delta 236 effective at .050 .355 lift cam. Something like a stock Merc cam. I found some NOS fomoco valve springs for $71 shipped. Should I use these or some ISKY g-185s. speak up
