50 flathead V8 temp. sending units

Took the flathead out this afternoon. The temperature was around 77 degrees. Here are the temperature readings that I found. The dash gauge was showing 3/4 Hot. Water temperature in the radiator was 140 according to the IR digital thermometer and 190 and 195 from the two mechanical gauges stuck...

50 flathead V8 temp. sending units

The temperature sensors are from Dennis Carpenter ford and the gauges are NOS i picked up from ebay. I have attached the pictures of the package the temperature sensors came in and the mechanical temperature gauges. I don't know if they are made by K-S but they look just like the original. I...

50 flathead V8 temp. sending units

Thanks for the information but if mine are the same which they should be, the two manual gauges i had in were always reading wrong. Like i said they both showed it running anywhere from 190 to 210 degrees. Now with the factory sensors and gauge it is running about midway between cold and hot...

1950 239 flatheat water temperature sending units

I will try to do some research on that. I didnt think it would be like a thermistor that changes resistance based on temperature where there is a specific resistance for each degree. I could see a resistance change in the unit but it was quickly changing. Thanks for the information. Do you know...

1950 239 flatheat water temperature sending units

I would think most here know theses flatheads have two temperature sending units. One with one terminal and the other with two terminals. I know the one with two terminals is strickly an on-off switch. The one terminal actually controls the temperature gauge by I think changing the resistance...
