We just junked one of those. I can’t remember exactly what it was but something kept jumping off the lifters if it sat for a week or more. My dad messes with the newer stuff so idk. The injectors were starting to go out too it did give us some work though.

Someone seems to now be reproducing them. There’s an ad in hemmings for new 53 Mercury gas tanks. Will check the listing when I get home if you’d like.

I don’t remember who told me but I’ve heard that the 55 ford is a similar tank to the mercury. It was an older gentleman who sold Mercury parts. He sold out his business a few years ago however.

A lot of old engines look like that. Most of the time it’ll wash off if you ever get it good and hot.

It continues to amaze me with the price of overhauls? 9,000? What are you building? Unless I’m completely out of my mind Go cat quoted me 3,000 for a stocker. Are you the guy from Instagram that’s throwing out a good running engine because it smokes?

I have a friend who’s first job was in a radio repair shop back in the 50s. Between me and him we figured out how to add an aid cord to pre-transistor radios. So you can plug your phone into original radio and use pandora or YouTube from you phone. Any good repair shop should know how to do this.

Bottom of the radiator support should have 2 bolt holes they face inwards. I would get a pic but mine aren’t on either atm.

Though those temps sound fine as stated if you want to try something to get them lower and the motor has a been together awhile you might try a block cleaner by evaporust, I can’t recall the name of it atm.
