Ford racing 289 intake manifold question

I have a 1966 Mustang with a 289. It currently has a edelbrock performer on it. I'm not a edelbrock fan, so I was looking at installing something different. I was real interested in a ford racing intake, however I was told that edelbrock makes many of the ford racing intakes. The ford racing Victor Jr, is a spot on clone to the edelbrock Victor Jr. However the other dual plane intake has me wondering. The edelbrock performer RPM is pretty close to the Ford Racing Dual plane, but there are little differences. Being The Ford Racing Victor Jr. is a spot on clone to the Edelbrock one it leads me to believe the Ford Racing Dual plane being its slightly different isn't made by edelbrock. Anybody know who makes the ford racing dual plane ?

Attached are pictures. The ford racing dual plane has holes in different locations going across that front water crossover. The Edelbrock performer RPM has a extra hole/boss on the drivers side rear runner. Also note on the Edelbrock performer RPM the slight indention right beside the middle mounting holes, which is not on the Ford racing dual plane. On the Ford Racing Dual plane the rear of the intake dishes down, where the Edelbrock has a gradual rise to the carb area. Also note on the end cylinders there is flat machined spot on the top of each runner in the general area where the intake meets the head. Notice they have different shaped flat spots.

The silver gray intake is the edelbrock. The brownish gray intake is the Ford Racing.

Anybody using one of these Ford Racing Dual planes ? Good ? Bad ?

Edelbrock may produce it to Ford specs and design revisions. If Ford Racing is going to market and sell it, there may be certain design requirements Ford may want that the Edelbrock design doesn't contain.

Many of the factory aluminum intakes were also cast by Weiand, check out this design:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Weiand-Stre...131003132420&rk=3&rkt=6&sd=191270397725&rt=nc This is the intake I chose:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Small-Block...Parts_Accessories&hash=item58a8f3c858&vxp=mtr Why you ask? Because it has a feature Edelbrock and Weiand both lack if you look at the pictures of the bottom of the intake notice it has both front and rear water passages this will promote more even cylinder temps in the block rather than restricting flow,if you notice many used intakes will corrode where they are blocked off. This intake produces strong bottom and mid range acceleration over 6,500 RPM,big difference from the previous Performer intake.

Any idea why the edelbrock and the Weiand intakes would have the rear coolant passage blocked off ?
More profit, cheaper to cast.Ford's 1982-85 aluminum GT intakes had front and rear passages the Performer which uses a similar runner design to the GT chose to block the rears off.Earlier versions of the Weiand Stealth 8020 intake had rear water passages, when Weiand was bought out and merged with Holley recently they took the cheap way to more profit.Several hardcore Ford forums that had a lot of love for that earlier version have shown their displeasure when guys ordered one and got the new style.:(
