Use due caution......

Everybody ready to hang this guy, but nobody knows the facts......?????

Report the details of the problem to Ryan and let him decide if it warrants banning the guy.

reply to flathead fan
i advertised some 5/8 chrome acorn nuts for sale --received his money order, and sent them the next day --i received an email saying he wants his $15.00 back as they are not the size he needs.

I don't want to drag this out but.... I asked him specifically if the acorns would fit a flathead Ford head bolt/nut. He said absolutely, " Yes." When I received them they were an odd-ball size and would not fit any part of a flathead engine I am aware of (I have four different cars with flathead engines). I wanted to return them for a refund. At this point he got nasty and the conversation went downhill. Obviously, we are not talking big bundles of money here but it would be nice to deal with a person with a degree of integrity. My purpose in starting this thread was to caution others when dealing with any big issues with him. Enough said.

Ahh, there's the rub. You should have been specific on hex size. Not will it fit a flathead ford.

I've frequented a good many car forums over the years and this forum by far has the most amount of complaints about buyers/sellers, most of them petty.

Is it worth dragging a man's name and reputation through the mud over $15??

Pretty obvious the buyer was at fault. This isn't Target. All sales are final, all goods sold as-is in private sales unless otherwise stated. Caveat emptor. What is the problem?

Totally agree. Add the tasteless remarks made by two members who jump in with no idea of what the heck really transpired. Ridiculous.

V8 Bob,
If someone sold you something for your flathead and told you it would "Absolutely fit" and it turns out it does not in any way, would you question their integrity? It doesn't matter if the item cost $5 or $500. It could be just a misunderstanding or miscommunication but using several alias names is a red flag.

As the old saying goes "the customer is always right" regardless of whether he is technically correct or not and I believe in this 100 %.

Don't know if this is about actual acorn nuts or just the nut covers, but I've seen the acorn nut covers advertised in a few places and some of them say you may need to squeeze or crimp them to get a snug fit. Other option is to add a dab of adhesive.
That's what I did and now my nuts look great!

I recommend looking @ how many posts a person has because some will have one post & join up just to sell something....thats a red flag to me!

It is human nature for most to want to trust everyone and to be trustworthy themselves. This is why it sets the honest people back on their heels when they get stung...

Seems that what we have here is a failure to communicate. Both in the initial transaction and here again in this forum.

Listen, I don't like to throw away money either, but I think we all need to use caution and go through the proper channels before bashing someone.

If you contacted the seller and were not happy with the outcome, I would have tried contacting Ryan.

Not sure it's too cool to start bashing over $15.00 and when you thought you were buying the right part, but didn't get it.

It would be a different story if you asked if they'd fit a 3/8" fine thread bolt, but you didn't.

My suggestion to anyone buying anything sight unseen is to be as specific as possible to avoid any misunderstandings or miscommunications.

Good luck and I hope it works out in the end.
