While I am trying to get organized  in my file system ,I found I have a few Customers with a couple of Alli's (spelling)
I came up with the same address with different names.
It came to lite when, I received a email from / Blue Boy
He said he was going to send his Shocks,
A week later a box of shocks show up from Mr. XYZ
a few days later I receive a PM from PRETTY TALL & CUTE
All it said was DID MY SHOCKS SHOW UP ?
I returned a PM saying Who are you? ~ no reply ~
2 days pass a phone call on answer machine this is Mr XXX did my shocks get there.
I check all the boxes His name is not there , I call him back telling him that I don't see his shocks, Mr XXX said he would check on his end, 2 more days pass , Mr XXX calls saying that he don't understand his mechanic Mr XYZ said he sent them 3 weeks earlier.
Then it hit Me, Blue Boy / PRETTY TALL & CUTE / Mr XXX
Were all the same person,
Mystery solved ~~ :D

Am I the only Vendor that has to play detective ??
Not complaining just wondering??

Bill,
WOW what a post !!!! We get this two to three times a week. Bob Jones sent in a distributor with no note in the box. ( we put those in my office managers office where she trys to trace ups shipper info and use a phone directory trying to find Bob Jones somewhere in Egypt!)
I then recieve a pm on the Hamb from "fastguy3" wanting to know if i got his distributor???? I then reply for a reminder on what kind of distributor ? He replys it was a Pontiac and wants to know when if will be shipped and can i please send him the ups tracking number right away...
Then we recieve a Pontiac distributor from a Ebay seller ( again with no note) that Jim Smith bought on ebay with instructions to send to us.
Then 1 week later "GM dude " sends a pm wanting to know if i got his distributor??????
Maybe a post here listing the "lost" distributors each week would help???

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Too funny!
If people proof read their e-mails, life would be so much simpler. But then where's the fun of tracking someone else's problem? I see it all the time!

I' VE HAD HIS PROBLEM ON THE bARN - PARTS TALK ON pm & GET cK OR mo & REF TO ACCT NAME -nOW i kNOW HIS REAL NAME?-A problem if more than one inquiry on sAME PART-SO FAR THE MYSTERIES HAVE BEEN SOLVED. i MUST GET OVER MY HABIT OF SCATCHING MY HEAD THOUGH:)

This happen just 3 weks ago / Should have run out and bought a loto ticket!

2 phone calls on answering Machine 1 after the other The last 4 numbers were exactly the same, WHAT'S THE CHANCES OF THAT ??

BILL .................
That has happened to me too.
I sell something to "V8runner" and I get a check from "Jim Thomas", with no connection to his nickname, "V8runner". Selling several parts at the same time does cause some confusion. I have to go back to the Private Message and ask "V8runner", "What is your name ? Are you Jim Thomas ?".

Some people use different email addresses with different names for different interests/hobbies. They probably forget which alias they used for which correspondence. I use one just for car related correspondence.

Yes, but even without that, you still have proper names, email names, and forum handles just for one person with one interest/hobby.

I always include a note inside the box with my full name, address and telephone number. As well as any special instructions. I guess it also helps that I use my real name and not a "nickname". I also usually call prior to shipping an item and discuss what I need and how I may be contacted. It all comes down to personal responsibility. I find that to be a rare thing anymore.

Your definately not the only one. User names and real names seldom match, so it is in ciberland. It helps when people sending the PM use their real name in the PM. That does not always happen. Why I am not sure, but would help in keeping things straight. Rod

A repair order number might eliminate the issue?
You could just set up and excel spread sheet, one column with a number next with a name/contact info. another with descriptions to be done/etc.

If name and number don't match, then place a call to verify.

Sure, some will forget to send the number/etc, but might help eliminate some chasing around.

Mike:
Not looking for a argument, and that is a idea but,In my case there are some shocks that show up in a box no info inside only name is return address & a lot of times I can't read the writting.
( and my writting is atrocious so I know what bad writting looks like)
It takes a lot of research to find out who it is.
I guess the real world is not like the computor world being old school I say thank goodness it's not.
